Dog Transfer Process

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for initiating and approving a dog transfer.

Steps to Initiate a Dog Transfer

  1. Obtain the Dog’s Tag Number: You’ll need the tag number of the dog to begin the transfer process.
  2. Create a New Transfer: Go to Filings → Create Transfer and enter the dog’s tag number.
  3. Assign the New Location: Select the receiving pound. If the dog is considered stray, enter 000.
  4. Obtain Signatures: Have the owner sign to confirm they wish to transfer membership.
  5. Review Transfer Status: The dog will appear in the transfer list with two pending approvals — one for the losing party and one for the gaining party.

Approvals and Endorsements

  1. Complete Losing Endorsement: Review if the dog is indebted before approving.
  2. Approve or Reject Transfer: Use the approval options as needed. Add comments for rejections in the explanation box.
  3. Get Required Signatures: The pound keeper and dog registrar (dog robber) must both sign.
  4. Submit the Endorsement: Once submitted, the status will change to approved or rejected.

Final Notifications

Once approved, a notification will be sent (e.g., to department 313) to finalize and record the transfer in the system. This ensures the transfer is reflected in the account records.
